fest, and the Lover of Greeks, and of the queens Siake, his agnate
sister and wife, and Aryazate who is surnamed
Automa, daughter of the great king Tigranes and his [i.e. Arsaces’] wife,
and of Azate, his agnate sister and wife, in the year 225,
in the month of Apellaios, in the district of Baiseira, by the station of Baithrabar-
ta, in the village of Copanis, in the presence of the witnesses who are recorded below.
Baraces and Sobenes, the sons of Maiphorros, agreed and recorded
that they had received from Gathakes son of Oipates in coined mon-
ey: thirty drachmae, the price of a vineyard which is located in the village
of Kopanis, known as Dadbakanras, his own am-
ount, which was due to him from the co-owners along with water,
[a part which comes] with trees both fruit-bearing and not, and with an entrance and an exit
and with all the things which belong to it. Let one part belong to Barakes an-
d the one part to Gathakes, on the condition that, once he has taken it over, the aforementioned Gathakes
will hold the vineyard that he has bought with silver for all time, both he himself
and his descendants, performing yearly in common all the things written in
the old contract in full. And let it not be lawful for Bara-
kes or for his brother or for their descendants or for any-
one acting on their behalf to dispossess Gathakes of the vineyard which
he purchased with silver – neither him nor his descedants. Whoever should dispossess him,
or, if someone else tries to do so and they do not stand by [Gathakes] and eject [the intruder], and should
they not then acquit themselves, let them lose their rights and pay back the sum
they received twofold, and let him pay in addition a fine of 200 drachmae and to the king the
same amount. But if Gathakes too neglects the vineyard and does not ke-
ep it in good order, let him pay the same fine. And [he shall have]
half the water every eighth day(?) and half of the water that comes in
at night. Witnesses: Chosstroes son of Orkadates; Apakes
son of Hystoboges; Meiridates son of Ochobages… and 35(?) of meat, 1 ελος(?), 50 baskets(?) of loaves,
8 oxen, 2 co[tylae?] of wine, and 1 drachma for possession.
